Awamaki Store Company Information
General information
Awamaki works to empower women in the Sacred Valley region through our Women’s Artisanal Cooperatives and Sustainable Tourism Programs. Additionally, our Volunteer Program brings international volunteers with various skill sets to support our work.
The Women's Artisanal Cooperatives Program provides skills education to women's cooperatives in product design, product quality, and business leadership. The program also connects them to local and global fair trade market access for their crafts, including through our Awamaki Fair Trade Store located in Ollantaytambo.
Awamaki's Sustainable Tourism program trains rural and indigenous women to host visitors, sell their hand-woven products, teach Spanish and Quechua, and lead Peruvian cooking classes. Our tourism program connects the women we work with to markets in the local tourism economy.
If you are only in town for the day, you can visit our Awamaki Fair Trade Store to learn more about our programs and purchase knit and woven textiles at fair prices - supporting our women weavers in the process!
In providing access to these opportunities, Awamaki works to empower our amazing women to earn reliable incomes, lift their families out of poverty, and transform their communities.
